Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida on October 10th as a very strong Category 4 hurricane. As a result, thousands of Panhandle residents have lost property or been displaced. The Hurricane dealt a devastating blow to our agriculture community as well. It is estimated that damages will cost over $158 million to our farmers.  According to UF/IFAS, The total field and row crop area impacted by Hurricane Michael was nearly 750 thousand acres, comprised of approximately 247,000 acres of hay, 245,000 acres of peanuts, 148,000 acres of cotton, 67,000 acres of corn, 30,000 acres of oats, and 11,000 acres of soybeans.
